EMS REFRESHER COURSES

EMT Refresher Course

Course Fee: $375

EMTs (NREMT) are required to renew their certification every two years by either taking the cognitive examination or by completing continuing education. The EMR National Continued Competency Program (NCCP) requires a total of 40 hours of continuing education to recertify. The model requires continuing education in three components: (1) a national component, (2) a local/state component, and (3) an individual component.

This 20 hour refresher course meets the National Component Requirement to maintain the EMR certification.

Course topics include:

  • 1.5 hours - Airway/Respiration/Ventilation

  • 6 hours - Cardiovascular

  • 1.5 hours - Trauma

  • 6 hours - Medical

  • 5 hours - Operations
     

Course Specifics: 

Fall Session: September 9th - 16th - 18th - 23rd - 26th | Monday - Wednesday 6pm - 11pm | Thursday 6pm - 11pm

Winter Session: December 9th - 11th - 16th - 18th - 19th | Monday - Wednesday 6pm - 11pm | Thursday 6pm - 11pm

 
Deadline For Applications: Monday prior to the start of session.

Prerequisites: Must be 16 years of age or older. Meet State requirements needed for renewal or retaking of course. 

EMR Refresher Course

This 8 hour refresher course meets the National Component Requirement to maintain the EMR certification.

Course topics include:

  • 1 hour - Airway/Respiration/Ventilation

  • 2.5 hours - Cardiovascular

  • 0.5 hours - Trauma

  • 3 hours - Medical

  • 1 hour - Operations

EMS INITIAL COURSES

Course Fee: $1,500

A 180+ hour course that meets or exceeds all State of Connecticut requirements to become a certified EMT. Course topics include, but not limited to: CPR/Defibrillation; safety/well-being; BSI/Infection Control; Medical/Legal Issues; Airway, Adjuncts and Oxygen; Patient Assessment for Medical, Behavioral Emergencies; Trauma, Obstetrics & Gynecology; Infants and Children; also Traumatic Brain Injury and both in house written and practical final exams. 

 

Students who pass the course are then eligible to take the State of Connecticut EMT Practical Exam as well as the written exam from National Registry. (Fee Not Included)

Tuition Fee Includes:

New BLS Healthcare Provider 2020 Manual, CPR Card, Pocket Mask, CPR Test and Practical, Brady EMT-Basic Manual (13th Current Edition), BP cuff, stethoscope, trauma scissors and penlight, Polo Shirt and in-class practical and written exams. Applicants that pass the course then can apply to take the State of Connecticut EMT practical and National Registry exams.

 

Course Specifics:

Spring Session: February 20th - May 30th, 2024 - Tuesday/Thursday 6:00pm-10:00pm and Saturdays 8:00am-12:30pm
Summer Session: June 19th - August 1st, 2024  - Monday thru Thursday 8:30am- 4:00pm

Fall Session: September 10th - December 18th, 2024  - Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:00pm-10:00pm, Saturdays 8:30am-12:30pm

EMR-Basic Initial Course

Course Fee: $625

A 60+ hour course that meets or exceeds all State of Connecticut requirements to become a certified EMR. Course topics include, but not limited to: CPR/Defibrillation; safety/well-being; BSI/Infection Control; Medical/Legal Issues; Airway, Adjuncts and Oxygen; Patient Assessment for Medical, Behavioral Emergencies; Trauma, Obstetrics & Gynecology; Infants and Children; also Traumatic Brain Injury and both in house written and practical final exams. 

 

Students who pass the course are then eligible to take the State of Connecticut EMR Practical Exam as well as the written exam from National Registry. (Fee Not Included)
